Chapter 40 A Promise

• Kimberly enjoyed the chocolate cake served by the maid. Her mind wandered to thoughts about her marriage to Fargo. She had married him because of an arranged marriage. She loved Fargo, which was why she didn’t refuse when they were betrothed. In the beginning of their marriage, she dreamed of having a perfect household. But it turned out that dream was just an illusion.
• As time went by, Kimberly’s love for Fargo began to erode. Now, she was trapped by her husband’s step-uncle. She didn’t understand how she could fall so deeply for Damian Darrel. If only her love were for Fargo, surely when Carol told her that her husband was seen with Gilda, she would have exploded in anger. But this time, she remained calm, waiting for Fargo to come home and planned to ask him.
• Today, Kimberly’s mood was the worst when she saw Damian go to lunch with Jennisa. How could Damian do that, when all this time he had forbidden her to be close to Fargo? Annoying. If she didn’t remember she was Fargo’s wife, she would have surely gotten mad at Damian in public.
