Chapter 41 Fargo's Explanation

  • A loud clap of thunder startled Kimberly as she sat on the sofa in her room. She glanced out the window. Lightning split the overcast sky. There were no stars or moon visible, hidden by the heavy rain pouring down that night. Fortunately, Damian had gone home earlier that afternoon. If he’d stayed until nightfall, he would have been trapped at her house because of the downpour.
  • After a minor argument earlier, they had made up. It sounded childish, but it proved how easily Kimberly could be softened. What mattered most to her was that Damian wouldn’t repeat the same mistake—and that he would remember her place in his life. That alone helped her feel at ease and understand.
  • “Madam Kimberly,” the servant greeted politely.
