Chapter 67 A Lose-lose Situation
- Nicholette felt frozen in place. She knew that whichever way she ran was the wrong one and it was overwhelming. They were both about to die and she had no idea of what to do. She wasn't a healer. She had no potions with her. And she was all alone, hours of walking away from anything. All she could do was cry. And she fell to the ground, knees and fists. What would she do? She thought of people she needed. What would any of them do? Her mother? Her sisters and her sisters in arms?
- Rafe, in his mortal pain, dragged himself nearer. With only slivers of his life force left, he licked Nicholette's face.
- Nicholette thought of Beatrice, like a mother to her. What would Beatrice do? For starters, Beatrice would say that a Huntress is never alone. And there was Nicholette, about to lose those she loved, completely alone. Unable to ask for help. She could cry for help, but no one would hear.
