Chapter 24 Nicholette Takes Theobald's Hand

  • There weren't many places out of the eyes of the guards or the servants in their house, but there were certainly all kinds of nooks and passages that three smart and playful girls had explored. There were corridors, storage rooms, cellars and gardens the girls in their childhood had dubbed Fairie's Creek, Unicorn Way, Delight Rainbow Square and many others. It was one of those that Nicholette was thinking when she turned away from the well and started walking.
  • “Best walk with me, Captain.” She murmured over her shoulder at Theobald.
  • It took him a second to figure out what her invitation meant, but he quickly caught up to her on the way across the courtyard and into the herb garden. The delicate smells of cinnamon, basil, thyme, coriander and dill paraded in the morning air as Nicholette ran her fingers through them, making her way down to the secret place she knew.
