Chapter 16 No Regrets
- The second-biggest worry in Nicholette's mind was that she would get fat. The small cell she was in didn't have space for exercise. It was no bigger than five steps in any direction and Lady Veritas had once again left a care package on her daily visit. Those were always overflowing with the delicate cakes and pastries their house's kitchen exhaustively produced. Every day was a calorie feast, and being bored with the dark and lonely arrest, Nicholette would nibble at everything her mother brought.
- Her first and most important worry now was silver being used at the cities gate to identify every werewolf. They had no idea this was coming to them, and it didn't look like the Council would be interested in having werewolf prisoners.
- Nicholette also had more visits, including Beatrice, who talked in a friendly manner, although it was clear that she also had been angry. Nicholette noticed that all the people that had come to see her were conflicted with both anger in her attitude, but also worried that she could have been hurt or dead. Some mentioned that she was very brave and that she was a heroine for surviving a werewolf attack. Nicholette didn't feel anything like that. She just felt stupid.
