Lily's POV
My fingertip stroked the cold blade, stained with dark red blood-my blood. He looked down at the bright red stain on my finger and then slowly lifted his head. His eyes pierced the dim darkness and fixed on my tear-streaked, bloodied face with deadly precision.
Suddenly, a wry grin twitched at the corners of his mouth. He let out a few hoarse, broken laughs that sent a shiver down my spine. That laugh was tinged with bitterness, self-deprecation and the kind of hopelessness that comes when you finally have to face the truth. It was as if in that moment he really saw the end he didn't want to admit to himself - the woman he had hurt so badly was more willing to die than stay with him.
