• I ran out of John’s cold, stifling mansion, and it nearly drained the last of my strength. The sprinting caused a dull pain in my lower abdomen, and cold sweat soaked my back. When I finally breathed in the icy air outside, I leaned my hands on my knees, gasping for breath, desperate to get out of this gilded prison teeming with power-hungry people and evil intentions.
