John tagged along behind at a leisurely pace, and he stopped and leaned by the doorway to the kitchen once Sophia went in. “Ian’s coming back today, right? Let’s bring the child along to welcome him. Look how generous I am! I usually require others to make an appointment a few days in advance if they want to see my baby, yet I’m offering to bring the baby along to meet him today. I can’t be any nicer to him.”
