Chapter 5

• It was training day, a day Lupa never liked because she was always paired with someone who already had their wolf as well as their ability, and she would only get hurt.
• Hence why she was trying to hide but, the teacher came for her, telling her to go change and then make way for the gym.
• ‘’Look alive ladies, the Alpha and his Beta will be the ones to conduct training! Your partners will be posted on the wall outside.’’
• Hearing this, a few girls clamored, all wanting the Alpha, but none were of age yet. Oddly enough, even though most members of the pack seemed to break the no rejecting of mates’ rule, they still obeyed the one to stay pure until they were of age.
• For some, like Lupa, that age was fast approaching but it didn’t matter now. And even with Alpha Kali’s rejection, no one would want her as their mate.
• After getting dressed in her gym clothing, a pair of blue shorts, a yellow top and white sneakers, Lupa made her way out of the dressing room and went to see who she would be paired with. To her horror, it was Catori. Knowing that she didn’t stand a chance, Lupa did the unthinkable. She sprinkled the ground up wolf’s bane in Catori’s water bottle.
• She made sure no one saw and then hurried to the gym, and it wasn’t a moment too soon because the girl stepped out of a stall just as the door closed behind Lupa.
• Catori was one of those girls that everyone praised, with her sculpted face, high cheek bones, and a tall but curvy frame. Her chestnut color hair was always shiny, and formed perfect ringlets down to her back, she had plumped lips and orange eyes that were so captivating because of the hint of red in them, anyone could get lost just by staring into them.
• She was also classified as an early bloomer. Getting her wolf at the age of twelve, and her ability came in a few months later. Her friends were just the same, and that might have been why they formed their clique. Being rare beauties and the few who were lucky enough to have their wolves at such a young age.
• Lupa’s head snapped up when Catori entered the gym, she looked pale in the face and was walking on wobbly legs.
• She smiled to herself, thinking that this would change things. She would show up Catori, even though it might come with some consequences.
• ‘’Ok, start’’ the Alpha said.
• ‘’Beat her ass!’’ Ella yelled and Catori tried to smile but she seemed as if she was about to throw up.
• Lupa moved in circles around Catori, at first she punched her in the face and before she could regain composure, Lupa kicked Catori in the stomach, causing her to fall flat on her back.
• Catori rolled to her side, Lupa thought she would have gotten up, but instead she began throwing up.
• ‘’What’s happening with her?’’ someone asked, then Astray ran over to help her friend.
• ‘’Eww, what is that smell?’’ Astray covered her nose then dropped Catori when the liquid from her mouth brunt Astray’s hand.
• ‘’Wolf’s bane,’’ Alpha kali said, then ran over to the girl who was still throwing up. He checked to see if she was ok, then turned hateful eyes to Lupa. ‘’You did this, you gave her wolf’s bane.’’
• The fearful look in Lupa’s eyes gave it away.
• ‘’To my office, now!’’
• Lupa dashed from the gym, she intended to go home but someone grabbed her arm and pulled her away.
• ‘’You wicked little runt, you won’t go unpunished for this.’’
• ‘’Let go of me!’’ Lupa tried to pull away but that only made Alpha Kali angrier as he dragged her along.
• Once at the pack house, Alpha Kali kicked the front door off the hinges where he didn’t stop until he got to his office. Once there, he threw Lupa on the ground then held her face in his hand.
• ‘’Do you have any idea what you did? Catori could die because you are nothing but a jealous little ugly, bitch! You knew I wanted to take her as my mate once she turned eighteen, but you refuse to accept my rejection, then you tried to kill her.’’
• ‘’What?’’ was all Lupa could manage.
• ‘’Don’t act dumb!’’
• The door opened, and the first person to walk in was Catori’s father. Alpha Kali stood up, but that only left Lupa open for his attack. He had her pinned to the wall by her neck, his fangs were bared, ready to rip her throat out.
• Something slammed into his side, Lupa fell to the ground, and she scrambled away.
• ‘’Don’t you dare!’’ Ulva roared.
• Rell growled at her. ‘’Your daughter tried to kill mine.’’
• ‘’I will deal with her, not you!’’
• The Alpha got them to calm down, or at least be civil enough so they could talk.
• ‘’What happened today was an unfortunate event but no accident, and I assure you that Lupa Tree will be punished for this act.’’
• ‘’What?’’ Lupa began to retaliate. ‘’Why should I be punished? Everyday these girls mock me and even beat me to a pulp, but they go unscathed.’’
• ‘’You tried to kill someone!’’
• ‘’As if they didn’t try to kill me as well on numerous occasions, but just because you are so in love with that perfect little bitch, you overlook the shit she does to me! You could have easily paired me up with anyone else in class. Like someone who doesn’t have their wolf but you choose her just so you can see me suffer.’’
• ‘’Don’t take that tone with me!’’ Alpha Kali roared.
• But Lupa didn’t stop yelling at him. ‘’You just might be the worse Alpha in the history of Alphas, you allow Catori and her friends to treat me like shit. And you!’’ Lupa pointed at Rell. ‘’You are no better than your daughter, every day I and my mother make complains about her nasty, bratty behaviour and you do nothing.’’
• Rell held up a hand. ‘’Young lady, I wasn’t aware that my daughter was tormenting you. I never got any report of such thing.’’
• Ulva glanced over at Alpha Kali.
• ‘’I never saw it important to bother Mr. Snow with trivial things like a simple school yard scuffle.’’
• ‘’Scuffle? Ulva laughed. ‘’I don’t call my child coming home with a broken arm, cracked ribs, a black eye or her hair having to be trimmed off because of wolf lice a scuffle. I talked to you about those girls so many times, and yet you allow a young girl who doesn’t have her wolf to continue to suffer. No wonder they continued with their acts,’’ Ulva spoke in a soft but serious tone.
• ‘’I will see to it that I have a word with Catori, her mother is a healer and I’m sure she is fine by now. As for her friends, I will speak with their parents myself.’’
• Mr. Snow left, but the argument didn’t stop there.
• ‘’You don’t want to see the bad side of me, Alpha Kali.’’
• ‘’Are you threatening me?’’ Alpha kali asked, getting to his feet and using his Alpha ability to force the angry Ulva into submission.
• She grinned at him. ‘’I am not apart of your pack, and never will be. I didn’t take the oath when I first came here, so nothing you try will affect me.’’
• The Alpha growled.
• ‘’And you don’t want a fight either, pup. Must you forget who I am?’’ Ulva growled, causing Alpha Kali to back down.
• Alpha Kali threw a dirty look at Lupa, making her know that Ulva was her saving grace.
• ‘’Come, we are going home.’’ Ulva pulled Lupa along with her.
• Lupa was left to wonder how her mother was able to challenge the Alpha, and even have him back down. She had never seen that happen before; the last person that did such thing was almost killed.
• Lupa’s eyes traveled to Ulva as she studied her features, also wondering what she meant by not being a part of the pack.
• ….
• For a few days, Lupa didn’t attend school and all she did was sit on the window seat in her room. She felt no remorse about what she did to Catori and hoped that she and her friends would learn to stay away from now on.
• Ulva hadn’t reprimanded Lupa for what she had done, instead she was praised and told that she should have done worse.
• With a sigh, Lupa decided to go visit the Alpha, only so that she could accept his rejection.
• It was a hurtful moment when she found out that he wanted Catori as his mate, but who wouldn’t want the pretty girl to be bonded to them?
• Lupa cursed herself for not only being without a wolf and then learning that she would be an Omega because of her blue eyes, but she was also the ugliest one in the pack.
• Without knocking, Lupa pushed open the Alpha’s door and was shocked to see Catori there. She was laughing at whatever the Alpha had to say but her face soon turned sour after seeing her in the door way.
• ‘’What do you want?’’ Alpha Kali asked.
• ‘’For you to reject me.’’
• Catori laughed. ‘’Reject? You are already unwanted.’’
• Lupa ignored her. ‘’Just say it!’’ She didn’t want to be the one to feel the pain or suffer the wrath of the Moon goddess after, so she yelled at the Alpha again to reject her.
• ‘’I Kali Crow, Alpha of the Night walker pack, reject you, Lupa Tree as my mate and Luna.’’
• Tears ran down Lupa’s cheeks as she said. ‘’And I, Lupa Tree accept your rejection. Alpha Kali Crow.’’
• Catori’s mouth fell open as realization dawned on her. ‘’You are the Alpha’s mate.’’ She didn’t seem mocking this time, but her face held something like sympathy. ‘’The Alpha’s mate?’’ she said again, still in disbelief.
• ‘’I am not his mate!’’ Lupa yelled.
• Catori’s lip turned up in a sneer. ‘’Clearly, he just rejected you.’’ She laughed.
• Lupa held her chest as she felt like something stabbed at her heart, but it was worse for Alpha Kali. It felt as if his body was burning up, along with the feeling of being stabbed a dozen times all over his body, and with him being the Alpha, no pity was taken on him.
• ‘’Get out!’’ Alpha Kali roared, spit dripping from his mouth as he went from yelling to crying out in pain.
• Lupa bolted from the office and ran straight for the forest. Telling herself that this eve will be her chance to finally leave the pack that never cared for her.
• She didn’t stop until it got hard for her to breathe, and she stopped to sit on a fallen tree then cried.
