Chapter 4

  • Lupa turned then bolted in the direction she was coming from, but with her being human, and her pursuers being wolves, they easily caught up with her. Someone grabbed her bag pack, pulling her to the ground and she fell with a thud. Lupa cried out as her head bounced off the concrete, causing white spots to dance before in her vision. She could hear someone yelling at the girls, but they did not let up, just went on to mock the other person.
  • ‘’Why don’t you just walk away, Dolph?’’ Catori asked.
  • Then something happened, Catori was the first to scream and Lupa could hear them running away soon after.
  • Dolph helped Lupa to her feet. ‘’Are you ok?’’
  • ‘’I think so, but how did you get them away?’’
  • Dolph smiled and held up a purple flower for her to see. ‘’I get my fair share of bullying as well, so I use wolf’s bane. Besides, since I am not a wolf yet, I will not be affected. I recommend you carry some around too.’’
  • Lupa gave him a small smile. ‘’Thank you.’’
  • ‘’No problem, I think the two of us should stick together. You know, power in number.’’
  • ‘’Until they use their abilities on us.’’
  • ‘’And we have wolf’s bane.’’
  • Dolph was nice enough to walk her back home, and while doing so he suddenly said.
  • ‘’I got rejected today by my mate, I never shifted last night, at least I do not think I did. Either way, I ran into her on my way to school, you should have seen the look on her face after seeing me.’’ He then tried to laugh it off.
  • ‘’I was almost rejected a few nights ago but I didn’t accept. I know for sure he wants to rip my head off for that.’’
  • ‘’We really are the fuck-up of this pack.’’ Dolph shook his head.
  • But in all honesty, Lupa saw nothing wrong with Dolph, just that he unfortunately didn’t have his wolf yet either. He was handsome, without a flaw on his skin, long blonde hair and a small, cute button nose. He had orange eyes, so he didn’t have to worry about being an Omega or a low-class member of the pack. He also had the perfect body, well built with strong arms.
  • ….
  • A few days after Dolph rescued Lupa, she had yet another unfortunate run in with Catori and her friends. This time she was prepared with wolf’s bane, and just waited for the three girls to get closer now. Lupa was scared out of her wits, but she wanted to defend herself, she was sick of it all and thought that maybe if she fought back, then they would leave her alone.
  • Something hit Lupa in the back, she went into a defensive stance, only for strong arms to grab her shoulders, forcing her to turn in the other direction.
  • "What is happening here?" Alpha Kali asked, his voice sounding smooth and gruff at the same time.
  • "She's crazy, she tried to kill us!" Catori lied. ‘’We were just minding our business when she attacked us.’’
  • "What do you have to say for yourself?" Alpha Kali asked, folding his arms over his muscular chest.
  • "Nothing. It's not like you will believe me either way." Lupa shrugged.
  • ‘’Just always causing trouble. For someone who is wolf less, fat and will be the Omega… I suggest that you stop with the bullshit.’’
  • ‘’Me causing trouble? I am the one always on the receiving end.’’
  • Alpha Kali roared out. ‘’Stop with the lies, I know that you are jealous of Catori and do these things to make her look bad.’’
  • Out of rage, Lupa pushed Alpha Kali in the chest. He tried to push her away, but she kept hitting him and out of retaliation he slapped her across the face.
  • Lupa froze, holding her right cheek, then looked up at the Alpha with watery eyes.
  • Catori was the first to laugh, then her friends joined in to mock her bitterly. Even then, Alpha Kali did not say anything. Instead, it seemed as if he was willing to join.
  • ‘’I suggest that you learn your place, or else I will banish you from my pack!’’ Alpha Kali growled.
  • Lupa thought that there was no need for that, she was planning to leave when the moment was right. She never felt as if she belonged, and with knowing the truth that Ulva was not her biological mother, she thought that is why she was so much hated.
  • ‘’I hate all of you! I do not mind leaving this hellish place!’’ Lupa yelled.
  • Alpha Kali laughed. ‘’Hellish? This is one of the best packs in the world, you should be glad I didn’t chase you out long ago. But go, being the runt you are, you would not stand a chance behind our boundary.’’
  • ‘’Yeah, this is the Appalachian mountain, there are scary things out there. Vampires, Skinwalkers, wendigos.’’ Catori laughed after speaking in a low tone, thinking that would scare Lupa.
  • ‘’I would rather take my chances than to live here, and you. Alpha Kali, I hope the Moon goddess smite you!’’
  • The mocking of Lupa did not stop, Catori and Mika followed her all the way home. Calling her foul names and if not for Ulva, they would not have stopped.
  • ‘’I do not get why the Alpha do not discipline those girls.’’
  • ‘’I do not get why they hate me so much.’’ Lupa cried.
  • ‘’It is because you are destined for greatness.’’
  • ‘’Greatness? Do not make me laugh! I am nothing! And everyone knows it, just as how we all know that you are not my real mother. Maybe that is why – ‘’
  • Ulva cut Lupa off. ‘’Don’t you ever say that again.’’
  • ‘’But it is true, there is no need to hide it anymore. I know ever since I was younger, I heard you telling someone that you did not care and will continue raising me as your own.’’
  • Ulva shook her head. ‘’You are my child and will always be as such.’’
  • ‘’I’m going to bed,’’ was all Lupa responded.
  • As much as she wanted to leave, she did not want to do so because she feared how it might affect Ulva. The older woman cared for her, and never made her feel any less than she was.
  • Lupa screamed into her pillow, not knowing what to do, she hated the feeling she had and wished things would be better.
  • As she laid there, Lupa began to imagine her life being better. That she was finally a wolf and was accepted by all. She even played with the thought that Alpha Kali did not reject her and when the time came, they mated and had beautiful children.
