• As I slowly came back to reality, I felt a gentle shaking, and my eyes fluttered open to find Nicholas bending over me. For a moment, I wondered if it was all just a dream, but the sight of his concerned face and the feeling of his hands working quickly to loosen the ropes around me told me it was real.
• “Nicholas?” I whispered in disbelief as I jolted upright, my heart racing with a mix of fear and relief. “Is it really you?” I asked, my voice husky due to lack of water.
• “Yes, I'm here now.” Nicholas answered as his hands moved swiftly, his fingers working to free me from my restraints. “I'm sorry I didn't make it here on time. I should have come to you earlier, but I couldn't. I'm sorry, Nicole.” He apologized, his tone sad and sympathizing.
