• The car ride was quiet, I pretended to be asleep just to please Nicholas. It was obvious that he didn't want to talk about what had happened in the office. Maybe he was avoiding the topic because of my panic attack.
• The car had halted. That only meant we had gotten to our destination, which was our home. Our home? It was Nicholas's house. I moved in after our marriage, but I can't call it home because it doesn't feel like one.
• I was patiently waiting for him to tap me awake, but he was not moving. What was he doing? I wondered as I shut my eyes pretending to be asleep.
