• After my conversation with Dr Victor, I had been looking forward to a better day. But my hope was crushed when Nicole's phone went straight to voicemail. I tried calling her again, but the same thing happened. Her line was switched off.
• A sense of unease crept over me, as this was unlike Nicole. Her phone was always on even if she didn't answer most of the time, and just a short while ago, it rang. I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
• I tried to push the thought aside, but it lingered, refusing to be ignored. I decided to call Amanda, hoping she might know something, but her words only added to my worry when she told me that Nicole hadn't come to work today. I checked the time and it was already afternoon.
