Chapter 63

• It was the following morning and Sara was preparing to go to the office, her mother Maryam was cooking breakfast in the kitchen. Maddy was seated at the breakfast table still in her pajamas and giving no indication that she was planning to get dressed any time soon.
• Sara eyebrow-raised at the sight of how Maddy was dressed. “Are you not coming to the office?” inquired she, with a trace of amusement. Maddy, who had a mouthful of food, mumbled something back. “I am on leave... Today Chris and I are going to look at our new house."
• Sara made an eye-roll of good nature. “I am going,” she said; and her mother was too fast in intercepting her. “Eat breakfast,” Maryam said, putting a block in Sara's way.
