Chapter 46

• He came out of the bathroom. He had thought Sara would be waiting for him, though he was surprised when he couldn’t spot her anywhere. He walked into the dining room and noticed Sara opposite George across the table. Their joyful talk filled the air and seeing them like that brought a big sense of comfort to Austin. He walked confidently toward the table, got a chair, dragged it across and sat down.
• He shouted, “Good morning!” with a charming smile.
• He leaned toward Sara a little after sitting down and put his hand on her shoulder. “Honey, you didn’t wait for me? You’ve become such a little glutton,” he teased, his tone playful yet pointed, deliberately trying to provoke her.
