Chapter 9 Man-Eating Seagulls

  • What Rosalie said bothered me. What did she mean by ‘Our food is eating Dante?’ I crept quietly toward the reef, and Naomi followed me, obviously unwilling to stay with Rosalie.
  • When I arrived at the reef, what greeted me was a hellish sight. It took all I had to keep my lunch down. Those seagulls were pecking away at Dante’s body… No, they were eating him! At the same time, Naomi gasped in horror.
  • I remembered a video I had seen before. A seagull gobbled up a duckling and was drowned by one angered duck mama. Man, they eat about anything, huh? Well, we’re no different from these animals anyway. “We have to get them.” I gritted my teeth. “Or we’re going to starve to death.”
  • “How should we capture them? They’re going to fly away the moment we get closer.”
  • “I can give it a shot. Can you give me your dress, Naomi?”
  • “I’m all yours. Of course, I can give you my dress.”
  • It wasn’t until she took off her floral dress did I realize her sexy curves. Her bubbly butt slightly arched up, and her breasts shone under the sun. I never noticed she was this curvy when we were cuddling back in high school though.
  • Naomi blushed from my stare, but she showed herself still, unashamed. “Like what you see?”
  • I kissed her hot lips, saying gently, “I do.”
  • Rosalie, who was at a distance away, couldn’t take it anymore, and she interrupted, “Oy, stop f*cking around with Two Face and get us some dinner!”
  • Tch, Rosalie is such a party pooper! I tied the floral dress up, crafting a makeshift bag and slowly crawled closer. Animals were naturally curious, but they were also easily scared. Even lions approached their prey slowly, only pouncing on them at the last moment.
  • I tried my best not to scare them, but still some of the seagulls flew away, while some kept on pecking away at Dante. When I got close to Dante’s body, the air was filled with the stench of blood, but I stomached it and lay there, unmoving. Playing dead was a long game where patience was key.
  • The sun glared down at me for nearly ten minutes, and I could feel myself burning up, but finally, the seagulls came back to feast on Dante. Honestly, I didn’t want to get close, but it was either them being our food or us becoming their dinner. As they feasted, I quickly brandished my makeshift bag and covered all the seagulls.
  • The seagulls tried to make a run for it, or in this case, fly, but they were too late. I wasn’t sure how many I managed to catch, and my prey struggled to break free from the bag, but I held it tightly. There was something sharp piercing me, and it was probably their beaks or talons.
  • I didn’t want them to move around too much in case they ripped the dress apart, so I smashed them on the reef a few times, sending the seagulls around me into the sky. Eventually, the seagulls in the dress didn’t move anymore.
  • Just in case they were playing dead, I smashed them against the reef a few more times before untying the dress. There were three seagulls inside, which were either unconscious or dead. Either way, they would be our food, so they’d be dead in the end.
  • I came back with our food happily, and when Naomi saw what I brought back, she gave me a hug, like how a koala bear would an eucalyptus tree. That was too much of an allure, so I quickly told her, “H-Hey, get off me, or it’s going to…” I could already feel my member poking at her already.
  • “And that’s what I like.” Naomi clamped down on my waist and kissed me. “I’m proud of you, my love.”
  • I felt myself heating up, and I tossed the seagulls away before kissing Naomi, ignoring Rosalie and Melody. We tumbled down on the beach, and she responded to my kiss. “I love how you smell.”
  • “And I love yours, too. I love how you look and how you feel,” I told her what I really felt.
  • Naomi was surprised. “But you told me Rosalie’s hot,” she whispered. “I don’t mind you thinking about her when you kiss me. I am ugly, after all...”
  • “No, please don’t tell that to yourself.” I held her face. “You’re a gorgeous woman to me. If it weren’t for you, I would have been dead for a long time now. I will not think about anyone else but you, Naomi. I want to feel you, love you, and hug you. Everyone says you’re ugly, but I think you’re gorgeous, both inside and out.”
  • “Really? Kiss me...” She teared up and hugged me again.
  • “Oh, for Pete’s sake.” I wasn’t sure when, but Rosalie came up to us and picked up the seagulls. “No wonder you can get along. She’s Two Face, while you’re an ugly sod,” she spat. “Get over here and make a campfire, Jonathan. You got Dante’s lighter, don’t you?”
  • Then she left, and Naomi asked me curiously, “She didn’t call you an ugly b*stard anymore.”
  • “Nothing good ever comes from her mouth, especially the nickname she calls you. I’m going to have a word with her.”
  • “Forget it. I am ugly.”
  • “No! You’re my woman, so she has to respect you!” I caught up to Rosalie and held her arm. “Hey, you can’t call Naomi Two Face. Have some respect.”
  • Rosalie scoffed, “I am just telling the truth.”
  • “Man, you’re annoying. Don’t you know all the girls hate you?”
  • “That’s because they are jealous of me.” Letting out a sneer, Rosalie went back to Melody and tossed the seagulls down, ordering, “Defeather them.”
  • “We don’t have any water to boil here, so grilling’s our only choice, and I hunted this. You’d better be nice to Naomi, or you’re going to starve.”
  • Rosalie bit her lip, grousing, “You’re going to fight me over her? Over Two Face?”
  • “Hey, what did I say about respect?”
  • “Fine, I’ll call her Naomi, then. Just get to it! I’m starving!”
  • Damn, she thinks she’s the boss here? Her attitude rubbed me the wrong way, but Melody stood up and went to collect firewood despite the pain she was going through.
  • We went to a secluded, sheltered place to start a fire, but instead of barbecuing the seagulls, I got a few big leaves and cooked it a la beggar’s chicken, which meant broiling them underground. When the fire had gone out, I took them out and dusted them off, and the aroma wafted everywhere.
  • It wasn’t the cleanest food, but we couldn’t care about that when we were starving. I tore off the drumstick and gave it to Naomi before we tucked in. Delicious.
  • Honestly, the meat wasn’t even succulent at all, but any meat was appreciated in that situation. Unbidden, Melody even cried. “I’ve never starved for this long.”
  • After finishing the seagulls and gulping some water down, we regained some strength.
  • Then, Rosalie ordered me again, “Find a place to sleep, and make sure it can house all of us. If someone were to see us, they’d probably try to do some hanky panky stuff. You can’t protect us all by yourself, so hurry up.”
