• Sophia had been eavesdropping from behind a hedge in the garden, her ears perked up as she listened to Victoria and Charles’s hushed conversation. She had been suspicious of their secretive behavior ever since the text from their phones, and now her worst fears had been confirmed.
• “Sophia, it’s just a misunderstanding.” Victoria chuckled nervously, trying to downplay the situation. “You probably misheard--”
• “Don’t pull that BS on me, Mom. I know exactly what is going on.” She spat, her voice dripping with anger, “There’s a tape of both of you, and someone just threatened to release it.”
