Chapter 23

• “Sir!” The co-pilot exclaimed as he burst into the cabin, his face pale and worried. Xavier and Amber quickly pulled apart, their faces flushing. The man immediately cleared his throat and looked away, “I apologize for the interruption and the turbulence we just experienced. I wanted to check if you both are all right?” Amber tossed him an awkward smile, straightening imaginary wrinkles from her dress, as they made their way back to their seats, trying to compose themselves.
• Xavier nodded, his expression neutral. “We're fine, thank you, Julian…Just a bit shaken.”
• Amber quickly chimed in, “Yes, thank you for checking. It was quite a jolt."
