  • The second the door slammed, the moment Maya stepped into the bathroom, her perfume sickly sweet and too strong, trailing in behind her like poison wrapped in silk. She didn’t knock. She didn’t call me. She just shut the door behind her with a casual flick of her wrist and turned to face me like we were in some movie scene where one of us wouldn’t walk out.
  • I was already sweating, my breath shallow, and the heat pooling between my thighs was starting to build with an intensity that didn’t feel natural. I gripped the sink harder, trying not to show it, but I knew my wolf could feel the change, feel the tension crackling like static beneath my skin.
