Chapter 122 Hundred And Twenty Two
- ARIEL’S POV
- I thanked the doctor, or at least I tried to, my voice barely holding together as I forced what felt like a pathetic excuse for a smile, and then I pushed myself up from the cold examination bed even though my legs didn’t seem to want to hold me. I told myself I would stand straight, I would walk out with my head high, but the moment my feet hit the ground my balance betrayed me, my knees gave a sudden, embarrassing shake and I slipped slightly, catching the edge of the metal stand just in time.
- A nurse reached forward quickly, steadying me before I could fall all the way, and I muttered something that was supposed to sound like gratitude but it came out hollow because all I really wanted was to get out, to get out before the walls closed in on me any further.
