Chapter 143 Hundred And Forty Three
- RYAN'S POV.
- I didn’t feel right sleeping away from home. The pack office wasn’t where an Alpha was meant to rest, but lately it felt like I was there more than in my own bed. I kept telling myself it was because I was Alpha, because I had work that couldn’t wait, because there were always new reports, territory complaints, and patrol logs to go through. That was the excuse I gave Derek every time he asked if I was heading out. It sounded believable enough… but even I was starting to hear how hollow it was.
- The truth was sitting like a weight in my chest. I could bury myself in work all night and no one would question it being Alpha gave me that kind of shield but I knew exactly what I was doing. Staying here was easier than walking through the front door of my own home. I hated that the thought even crossed my mind. Alphas didn’t avoid their houses. Alphas didn’t avoid their mates. Yet here I was.
