• The morning after that long, suffocating night came with no relief. I had barely slept. The thoughts about Serena, the video, the whispers from the board, and Emily’s behavior—all kept swirling in my mind like a storm I couldn’t escape.
• Lucia had been to the house twice after Serena left. When she asked about her, I only told her Serena would not be around for some time. She prepared my meals and did the usual cleanup before leaving. This morning when she showed up at my apartment, her expression made me realize she had also heard the rumors, but she didn’t ask me any questions, she knew better not to. Her job was to handle the house chores, including cooking my meals when necessary, not to probe into her boss’s personal affairs.
