Chapter 40

• Kiara’s heart skipped a beat when a knock came on the door. She smoothed her nightwear and took a very deep breath before she walked over to the door, and pulled it open.
• Breathing proved hard when she met eyes with Devon, and her mouth ran dry. For the next few seconds, she struggled to get her brain and mouth to work together so she could exchange pleasantries, but knowing the reason he stood before her tonight, smelling and looking so delicious, her heart pounded too erratically for her brain to work.
• Breathing out a laugh, Devon made his way into the room. When he had gotten the news about her decision earlier, he believed it a lie, even as he took his bath, prepared and walked all the way to her place, he believed it all a lie until he saw her looking all breathless and nervous.
