Chapter 39

• After locking her door, Kiara shut her drapes, then laid down comfortably in her now dark room. Her fingers found the locket on her neck and she fiddled with it. For the first time in weeks, she pried it open and tears filled her eyes.
• Somewhere along the line, somewhere in between getting revenge, she had forgotten why she even started. She allowed the tears that had formed in her eyes to roll down her cheeks, while her thumb caressed the picture on the locket softly.
• Her teary eyes roamed over the picture, and she forced herself to engrave every bit of it in her mind.
