Chapter 20

• For the next few weeks, Alex and I practice in complete silence, except for the occasional greeting. I feel my body moving more easily with the much more complicated moves. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a combination of Karate and Kickboxing. I advance to the next level quicker than I expected and am sparring with Alex and have even pinned him a few times.
• We finish up the last few minutes. I’m panting and I grab my towel to wipe off the perspiration. I pick up my gym bag and stuff my towel in there. I need to remember to wash it when I get to the room.
• “Ky?” Alex says softly. I turn towards him. It’s the first time he’s said anything to me in a while. Then again, I haven’t said anything to him either.
