Chapter 36
- “Do you like it?” Riven asked.
- I looked at the overgrown garden he brought me to and wondered what would be an appropriate response. At that time, I wasn’t even thinking of the flowers or the garden. My mind was solely fixated on the Sinclair family and Elijah. What were they doing here and how could I avoid them?
- The Sinclairs, I knew, had come here upon the invitation from my biological parents who must think they were doing me a favor by bringing my ‘loving’ adoptive family. I knew that my parents would try to get along with the Sinclairs out of guilt for losing me and gratitude for having them raise me but I hated it. They would only take from me – take but never give. I had to find a way to send them away without raising suspicion.
