Chapter 36

  • MAVERICK'S P.O.V
  • After I texted Levi, I had a quick shower after I rested a bit, and left the house. I also asked and instructed Jane to attend to Natalie and provide whatever she may be needing. Normally, I would have stayed home because that's what newlyweds should do, especially the men – stay home with their new wife and enjoy their first day as a married couple. The whole house reminded me of Ruth and particularly now that I was going to be staying there most of the time because of Natalie, it annoyed me the most. If I had a way, I would have gotten her another place and let her stay with whomever she wanted, do whatever she wanted, and just let her live her life however she may want to as the marriage might have become a barricade preventing her from living. But I couldn't, I just couldn't, my mom would grow very furious if I ever did that. She just wants me to be happy and forget Ruth, and I totally understand her points now. It just wasn't fair to Natalie in any way. I just hope she forgives me at least.
  • But getting married to Natalie is coming with so many complications that I do not understand. I didn't even ask to be married to her. With the fact that my body felt very much excited the moment I spotted her in the church and the way it reacted when I lifted the veil off her face, I didn't understand it but it frustrated and provoked me evenly. Plus, what's with the unknown text and calls? What exactly is happening? It was exhausting having to think about all of that. I asked Eric to drive very fast as the thoughts clouding in my head were beginning to drown me. I needed a glass of whisky or perhaps a full bottle of it to ease my nerves, but there was none at the moment. I rubbed my thighs and exhaled deeply.
