• Last night, John called me. I could hear the tension in his voice, and my stomach twisted before he even got the words out. He told me a group of five Soulless Bleeders had attacked the Park the day before. For a second, I was frozen with fear, my mind racing with all the worst possibilities.
• But then John reassured me—nobody had died. Relief washed over me, but I didn’t even have a chance to fully process it before he added that they had managed to take down three of the attackers using the black knife. The remaining two had fled, but they wouldn’t stay gone for long.
