• “What is it?” My voice trembled as my hand shot to my neck the moment Stacy’s words hit me. I felt something tight, like a collar, around my throat. Before I could react, it vanished into thin air. Stacy let out a terrified scream. “Where did it go?” Her voice quivered with panic.
• I froze. Something felt different—off. A strange sensation churned in my gut, like whatever it was had shifted inside me. And then it hit me. My powers—they were gone. All of them. Like they’d never existed in the first place. I could feel the thing inside of me. And now, I could feel that thing inside me.
