• Anger burned inside me the moment Emma told me she wasn’t leaving the pack anymore. It was like a slap to my face. I wanted to yell, to ask her outright why she still hadn’t rejected Damon if she was so sure she wasn’t staying for him. But I couldn’t bring myself to say it. My pride wouldn't let me.
• Why else would she stay? Did she really think I had nowhere else to go? Did she honestly believe I was here just because I had no other options? No. I came for her. I stayed because I wanted to be near her, to protect her. I even poured my heart out and confessed my feelings to her. But maybe I was too late. Maybe I should’ve told her back at my mansion, long before Damon even became part of the picture.
