Chapter 96

  • "You think you own her?" Carman growled, stance shifting to defensive, blood trickling down his chin. "Touch her again like you did last night—bruise her face—and see what happens." Charlotte froze between them.
  • Howard growled low, a primal rumble from deep in his chest, fists tightening like vices, veins bulging as he regained footing from Carman's punch. Blood trickled from his split lip, but rage blinded pain—eyes locked on the doctor like a predator. • Charlotte lunged between them, arms outstretched, a fierce barrier. "Stop!" Her voice cracked the air, firm despite trembling. She whirled to Carman first, eyes pleading yet resolute. "Dr. Carman, it's my personal matter. I'll handle it. Please."
