• Howard sat in his cabin, staring intently at a single candy wrapped in shiny silver foil. He couldn’t understand why that little girl had such an odd effect on him—why he felt drawn to her and why a strange sense of connection welled up inside him whenever he thought about her.
• A sharp knock on the cabin door broke his thoughts. Instinctively, he tucked the candy into his desk drawer before calling out, “Come in.”
