• Charlotte was busy reviewing her patients’ reports when her door suddenly swung open without a knock. She barely glanced up, assuming it was just a colleague. Then Howard’s voice boomed through the room, “Can’t hear your phone ringing? I’ve been calling you for the last hour!”
• Charlotte looked at him, a little surprised but quick to reply, “And do you want me to remind you to knock before barging in? I could have been with a patient. You can’t just invade my privacy. Besides, this is my work time in a hospital—my phone was on silent.”
• Howard took a step closer, his tone teasing, “Oh, so what kind of privacy does my future wife need to hide from me?”
