Chapter 19
- After my conversation with Mr. Carter, I stepped out of his hospital room, a smile gracing my lips. I felt a mix of relief and anticipation as I walked down the sterile corridor. Just as I reached the door, I caught sight of Howard standing there, his expression a blend of confusion and curiosity. I chose to ignore him, continuing on my way, the sound of my footsteps echoing against the tiled floor. I could feel his eyes on me, but I didn’t look back as I made my exit.
- Inside the room, Mr. Carter leaned back against his pillows, his face lighting up as Howard entered. “Howard, it’s good that you’re here. You need to start preparing for the wedding,” he said, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
- Howard stepped closer, his brow furrowing in confusion. “What do you mean, Grandfather?” he asked, trying to piece together the situation.
