Chapter 70

Charlotte stepped closer to Howard and spoke calmly, “I was busy; that’s why I couldn’t make it to dinner.” She tried to pass by him peacefully, but for Howard, it was even more insulting. Suddenly, he grabbed her elbow and stopped her.
Charlotte turned around, surprised by his sudden aggression. Howard’s voice was tight with anger as he hissed, “Who do you think you are? Count yourself lucky that you’re becoming a part of this family.”
Without warning, he pushed her toward the nearby wall and pinned her against it, his hands firm on her arms.
