• Sarah stared intensely at her cup of tea. Not even blinking — as if memorizing every curve of the cup and the color of the tea. But the gaze was utterly vacant. The owner just stared straight at the now-tepid tea, her mind elsewhere entirely.
• It was Sarah—sitting lost in thought alone at a corner table in the coffee shop. She’d been like this since she sat down. Even when the waiter delivered her tea and chosen dessert, Sarah ignored it, drowned in her thoughts.
• Since that exhausting argument with Alex, Sarah couldn’t focus. His words had shaken her to the core, looping endlessly in her mind.
