Chapter 14 Strange Emotions
- Elvis woke up as he always did—without the need of an alarm pulling him out of his dreams. He headed straight for the bathroom, washed up, and dressed his broad frame neatly in tailored slacks and a crisp sky-blue shirt Alex had prepared the night before.
- Looking polished and composed, he picked up the phone he’d left on the bedside table, his steps carrying him toward the door. But suddenly he paused. Last night—Edeline. The punishment he’d given her. Surely she hadn’t finished it. He was certain she hadn’t. Certain she’d have given up halfway through.
- Confident in that assumption, he stepped out.
