Chapter 20 A Story About A Man
- Elvis showed no hint of guilt toward the man staring at him in confusion. From the man’s perspective, the accusation had some truth. The “spoiled little sister” Elvis had meant was Sarah Elmer—Simon Elmer’s younger sister. Sarah, the endlessly demanding girl who whined to her family every time Elvis rejected her.
- Simon was no minor figure. He was the CEO of one of Manchester’s most prominent pharmaceutical companies, well aware of his sister’s troublesome nature and of their parents’ meddlesome attempt to arrange Sarah’s marriage with Elvis.
- But that was all Simon knew. His own life was consumed by the family business; he barely gave time to his sister’s melodrama. Which was why he now looked at Elvis with confusion, bewildered by the cutting remark thrown at him.
