Chapter 23 A Strange Morning

• Shopia felt lucky that evening to have slipped safely back into her bedroom. She followed Liz’s strict instructions not to leave. In a way, Liz had ordered her to lock herself inside for a certain amount of time.
• The little girl was gloomy at first. She had planned to give the bandages Edeline had bought to patch the cut on Elvis’s face. But it was okay—she could try again another time.
