• Irene’s POV
• The tension from the rumor lingered heavily around the camp. Karson and Lucas' disagreement, only made things more uncomfortable. I couldn’t get any rest through the night; instead, I was in my head wondering what I needed to do to make the pack members trust me again. At first, I was pissed and disappointed in them for taking in the rumor and allowing it to fester so deeply that they couldn’t hold back on their inner thoughts. I was on the verge of listing out my achievements to anyone who cares to listen.
• However, I thought it through again. What would I have done in their situation? Everyone moves around with fear lingering at the back of their minds with a frail hope that they don’t lose their lives. They have every reason to doubt my prowess since I was once wolfless. I never would have trusted myself to lead a war in the past. But times change and we are allowed to prove ourselves at every given opportunity. Which is what I intend to do from now on. Give them more than enough reason to put their trust in me.
