• "Seriously, you need to get a grip," Zara said softly, her voice calm and even. She'd seen me like this before, pacing like a caged tiger, the tension radiating off me in waves. "Why don't we go for a run? Blow off some steam, clear your head. Pacing like that is just going to wind you up tighter."
• I whirled around, ready to snap, the frustration bubbling over. But Zara didn't flinch. She'd been there, hadn't she? She'd been right beside me when Baxter forced Mascold to reveal the truth about my sister being alive, to finally confirm who she was within his pack. And she'd also been absent when Mascold, after the reveal, told me I couldn't see her yet. Not until he'd spoken to my sister, first.
