- The air in the small room was thick with the scent of his cologne, a musky blend of sandalwood and something sharper, almost metallic. My breath hitched as his gaze swept over me, a slow, deliberate appraisal that made my skin prickle. The sound of the zipper sliding down, then the soft gasp that escaped my lips, seemed to echo in the sudden silence.
