Chapter 94
- HERO POV
- The heaviness of the world settled on my shoulders. I’d spent hours wrestling with my own guilt before I could bring myself to look for Zara. I knew I’d messed up, big time. The image of her face, strained and focused during the ritual, kept flashing in my mind. And then, the image of me, pulling her away, and halting the progress of her finding her bond flashed. I cringed.
- Finally, I found her. She was in our room, just staring out the window. The same clothes she’d worn during the ritual clung to her, a complete reminder of what I'd done. Had she been here the whole time? Just… staring? My stomach twisted. I’d left her alone for too long, lost in my own head. I hadn't wanted her to push me away, but in my fear of that, I’d pushed her away myself.
