  • Jeremy pressed his body low to the ground, inching closer to the edge of the woods. I followed closely behind, my smaller size allowing me to move with ease through the undergrowth. We were nearing the parking lot, where their vehicles were parked.
  • The parked cars were a sad sight. They sat up on blocks, their tires missing, exposed to the elements. Someone was scavenging through them, their movements quick and desperate. At the end of the line, a lone figure stood guard, a wolf among the wreckage. A lookout, no doubt. Luckily, the wind was blowing in our favour, carrying the sound of our approach away from the scavengers.
