• I shook my head, feeling a grim sadness. “My brother wasn't like that__Nathan wasn't a greedy or controlling leader who was power-hungry. He cared deeply about his pack and would always protect them. If anyone tried to hurt them, he would fight back. I suspected someone was trying to take over, but I couldn't find any proof. Maybe the answers are hidden here, with Stephen, but he's gone. Someone else must know what happened.”
• Paxton began to pace, his brow furrowed in thought. “Stephen has two things that completely consumed him," he explained, “Being an Alpha, which he finally accomplished, and Finna. If he was involved in something, you can bet it was somehow connected to one of those two things. There's absolutely no chance he'd risk his position or Finna's safety by trying to take over another pack. It simply doesn't make sense.”
