Chapter 50 The Hypocrite
- Jace POV
- Sheila leaves me in the dining room, her last words clinging to me like the pungence of smoke after a fire. I stand there, fingers drumming the edge of the table, trying not to let the sting of her accusations show even though she’s already gone. It’s easier to hide when no one is watching, but harder, too, because then the silence feels like a mirror.
- I exhale a gust of breath and close my eyes, thinking of her words. Sheila just basically called me a hypocrite. It hurts me to admit that in some ways, she's right. I once had her, but I let her go and jumped on a new woman. Why? To keep my position as Alpha. That makes me as hypocritical as Bruce Cohen.
