• Alina’s jaw practically falls on the floor after I tell her Sheila is coming back to live in the mansion. She blinks rapidly and says, “What is this, Jace? This back and forth? Why does she have to come and go and come again?”
• Her shrieking tone grates against the back of my neck, setting my teeth on edge. That reaction was expected. But no matter how prepared one may be, a shrieking woman always has a way of making you want to escape. If Sheila’s coming and going makes her mad, then that can be remedied too.
