Chapter 167 Alina Is Barren??
- Jace POV
- Two months have passed since the incident, and I finally feel myself emerging from the thick cloud of pain and misery that Brady’s death cast over the pack and our home.
- The days blur less now; the nights aren’t quite so suffocating. Alina has started smiling again. But the smiles rarely reach her eyes, they stay shallow, painted on her lips like a mask. Her gaze is haunted, and fearful. She jumps at the slightest sound, a door creaking or a voice raised in the distance. I thought that once Sheila was gone, life would improve. She would improve. I would improve too. No longer bound by the promise I made to her father on his deathbed, to protect her always.
