I sat patiently as my aunt meticulously applied makeup to my face, transforming me into someone unrecognizable. The process felt surreal as she layered on the foundation, concealer, and other cosmetics with a practiced hand. My once-familiar features were hidden beneath a mask that made me resemble Aunt Veronica and her minions. The black pixie wig was carefully placed over my natural hair, which had been expertly tucked in.
When I finally glanced at my reflection in the mirror, I couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. I looked nothing like myself—more like a shadowy version of my aunt’s associates. Aunt Valeria handed me a long green dress and a transparent veil, her eyes sharp and calculating.
