  • Maverick Novak’s second attempt at marrying me was inching closer, feeling like a bad joke with each passing day. The festival had spun for two days now, and the house was decorated elaborately, the feast ample enough to feed the entire Lycan pack. My extended family gathered for the traditional pre-wedding party, and the maids adorned the hall with vibrant marigolds and delicate jasmine. My aunties wore intricate outfits embroidered with gold threads, while my uncles, dressed in long togas, joined the feast as the dancing group performed choreographed dances, entertaining the guests.
  • Inside, I felt like I was dying. With all eyes on me and security extra tight, there was no hope of escape. I watched my family and the top members of the Lycan community devour spiced lamb kebabs, biryanis infused with saffron, and an array of dishes and desserts. Everywhere buzzed with excitement and activity, and my bitterness grew so big that it almost exploded as I watched everyone having fun. Uncles gathered in the courtyard, playing chess and arguing about politics, and kids ran about, playing with colors and laughing annoyingly.
